Super Paper Mario set to April 9th

17 02 2007

There’s been much hype around Super Paper Mario, mainly because of its retro gameplay style and the great looking videos and pictures we’ve seen. Plus I have this other secret reason; I was heavily disappointed with New Super Mario Bros. and since then I’ve been wanting to play a game worthy of the Mario platforming franchise. Anyway, the game has been set to release on April 9th, so be sure to save some money for then (shouldn’t be too difficult, there’s no big Wii game coming soon other than SSX Blur and Sonic).

Not dead yet!

15 02 2007

Hey, I hope you like the new theme. Anyway, even tho I haven’t posted in days (due to the fact that I’m in University now), the blog’s still alive. I’m waiting for some news to post here, but nothing terribly relevant has happened lately, although you can always check TIG Source or the other Indie-gaming websites linked here if you want to try some new games.

Oh, and Clover Studios apparently revived in the form of SEEDS. Let’s hope for some DS and Wii love it’s on the way.

P.S.: Also, I’m thinking about expanding the site, but then I would need some help from someone with time who would like to help me on articles; I don’t really think buying a domain or something like that would work with me so busy at the moment.

Force Majeure: This Game is Pure Win

4 02 2007

This is exactly the reason why I just love indie gaming. Force Majeure is the entry for the AutoFire 2007 Shooter Competition by junkboy of Monokey and it’s probably one of the best indie games I’ve ever played. After about 30 mins. of playing with it I can conclude it has entered the ranks of Cave Story, Warning Forever and Cho Ren Sha68k.

I don’t play that many horizontal shooters. For some reason, the indie community insists on making bullet hell vertical shooters (I’m not complaining, I love them as well), but this kind of them don’t come as often. Anyway, featuring a set of awesome, beautiful and detailed graphics Metal-Slug style, this shooter is just outstanding.

The best thing is, it doesn’t stop in the graphics. The music is incredibly good as well, and the gameplay is as fluid and challenging as you can imagine. The fact that it features 2 characters (or ships) to play with is also pretty good.

For now, the game only features one stage, but it’s one really worth playing. We should probably expect a full game later this year tho, and I can’t wait for it.

So make yourself a favor and go download it.

Ocarina of Time 2D Project Nearing Completion?

2 02 2007

It’s clear that one of the most relevant games in the N64 era was Ocarina of Time, game that is still cited in any “best game ever” discussion and with a reason, setting the bar for adventure games to come, with its innovative style and fun. That and a nostalgy for 2D Zelda motivated programmer Daniel Barras to create his own version of Ocarina of Time, Link to the Past style.

Much has been talked about this project since its start in 2003; many times it was presumed to be dead or maybe Nintendo had just stopped the creator for copyright infringement, but it seems that the project is alive as well, and presumably nearing completion.

A new page for the project has been opened with some details about how the project started and how it’s finally arriving soon, along with some screens (that I’m not really sure if are new or not).

As another Zelda fan, I can’t wait for this. Keep checking the site for more news on the game’s development as they make their way into the interwebs.

Konami announces Dewy’s Adventure

1 02 2007

Konami Gamer’s Day is going on right now and as soon as it started, IGN published their exclusive article about the new game being developed for Wii by the Elebits’ team, Dewy’s Adventure. Check out the pictures and videos (not to mention an interview with the developers) for more info. It looks nice and actually reminds me of Loco Roco, let’s hope this will turn out to be as good or even better than Elebits; the art style looks really similar too.

Spore version coming to DS

1 02 2007

According to Next-Generation, EA has confirmed that a version of the upcoming Spore (which I won’t be able to play) is coming to a DS near you (which is good for me; I’ll play that one). Pretty interesting, as the PC game looks extremely complex and heavy to be put into the DS, so we’ll see what focus they decide to give to this version. The DS version was the only one confirmed, so those wishing for a PS3/Wii/360 version will still have to wait. Also mentioned in the article is the upcomming Sims game coming to Nintendo’s platforms and the fact that even more sport games will be coming to Wii, which isn’t really a surprise, is it?

Busy + Mini roundup

1 02 2007

Hey; sorry for not posting lately, but I’ve been really busy lately. At least I haven’t missed anything terribly important; Hotel Dusk came out and I’m still trying to find out how I’m gonna get my hands on it with no money, I’ll have to get it as soon as I start actually saving again.

Anyway, there are some little interesting news around so it’s time to make a mini roundup. First of all, the official Fire Emblem Wii (Goddess of Dawn) website has opened and you can check out what most likely is the opening movie; not bad at all. Also, I wonder when we’re gonna see the franchise on the DS; it’s just a matter of time, right?

In other news, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings looks amazing. I wasn’t too interested on it since it’s a spinoff and for some reason I tend to avoid spinoffs, but the latest shots from the game (Credit to PantherLotus) really show the game’s being polished as much as possible and that shows some work and dedication from Square-Enix.

Also, a new Sonic and the Secret Rings trailer. I could talk about how Sonic has become worse and this game might return Sonic to its roots but that would be too cliched. Just watch the trailer.

On the indie game front, I haven’t played much, except for Gravitron, which was released a while ago but I hadn’t given a chance. It plays really well and it’s fun once you get used to the controls. Also, the visuals are great and fit the game, so check it out if you’ve got some minutes free.
